To be fair though, anyone can be like that. If you're all the sudden being interviewed for a what appears to be a news article that's going to be on TV, do you think those kinda questions would be thrown your way? I'd be dumbfounded too and would more than likely answer incorrectly, especially when only having a few seconds to answer.
Sure, there's always the base uneducated people in any society, and being in that situation makes it harder to guess a question. If you're on a national television show, even if it's not from your own country, it's harder still... so much nerve goes into answering a question if you realise maybe 3 million people will see you get it right or not.

Still, to me now, they seem like basic questions. I guess it's because when I was horrified by how little journalists tend to know about geography, I started trying to remember where each nation was.

Fox News placing Sydney at the top of Australia instead of the South-East Coast is a good example of just how bad this gets:

Anyway, I realise that our lack of a certain kind of information doesn't prove us unintelligent, just unstudied in that area... We're all "stupid" in some ways, and "smart" in others. If people understood that, I suppose the world would be a nicer place to live in.

You know, the real error in that map is that the US is not in the center of it, and should also be much larger.

Don't worry about the map thing Silva, our news showed a rport where a foreign news station "accidently" switched Flanders and Wallonie around, kinda hard to miss, when that's the two major parts of our country, but still.
